Shannon Adams, MSN, RN, KHRIT executive director, is a 2016 graduate of the Community Leadership Institute of Kentucky (CLIK). The 5 week leadership development training program is offered by the UK Center of Excellence in Rural Health, Kentucky Office of Rural Health and UK CCTS Community Engagement and Research Program. The overall goal of the program is to assist community leaders associated with organizations that engage and empower communities to reduce health disparities, leverage funding, and learn how to use data to improve services and programs.
Every student in the competitive program earns a $2500 grant to support a special interest project for their organization. Funds received from the grant allowed the P.A.C.T. program to: 1) provide medication planners and scales to patients; 2) purchase marketing tools; 3) increase number of community partners and; 4) purchase health education materials for patients.
In April 2016, Shannon shared a presentation highlighting the positive patient outcomes of the P.A.C.T. program in Knox, Laurel and Whitley counties at the UK Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) annual conference.
